Privacy Policy

This policy describes what data this site handles and how. It is written to be read, not skimmed past, and it is short because we handle very little.

The short version

• Your chart data (labels, numbers, colors, everything you edit) is processed entirely in your browser and is never sent to our servers.
• Charts you save are stored in your own browser’s local storage, on your device.
• We use Google Analytics 4 to understand site traffic, and only after you accept analytics in the consent banner.
• There are no accounts, so we hold no profile, email, or password for you.
• We do not sell data. We also have essentially no data to sell.

Your chart data

Everything you enter into the editor, category names, values, uploaded CSV files, pasted spreadsheet data, styling choices, is processed by code running in your browser. Rendering, parsing, and exporting all happen on your device. We never receive, store, or see your chart data.

Two features involve your data in ways worth understanding:

Local storage. Autosave and the “My Charts” list use your browser’s localStorage. This data stays on your device, in that browser. We cannot access it. Clearing your browser data deletes it, and we have no copy to restore.

Share links. When you create a share link, your chart (including its data) is compressed and encoded into the URL itself. The link is the chart. We do not store shared charts on a server, which also means anyone you give the link to can see the chart’s data. Share links containing sensitive numbers should be treated like the numbers themselves.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to see which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and which features get used, so we know what to improve.

GA4 runs only after you accept analytics in the consent banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, no analytics scripts load and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice later via the cookie settings link in the footer.

When enabled, GA4 collects the usual traffic measurement data: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type, and interaction events (for example, that a chart was exported, not what it contained). We have configured analytics to avoid collecting your chart contents anywhere, including in event data. Google processes this data on our behalf; Google’s own privacy policy governs their processing.

Cookies and similar storage

• Consent choice: stored locally so the banner does not reappear every visit.
• GA4 cookies: set only if you accept analytics, used to distinguish visits.
• localStorage: used for autosave, saved charts, and preferences like dark mode. This is functional storage, not tracking.

There is no advertising, no ad cookies, and no cross-site tracking.

What we do not have

No accounts, so no names, emails, or passwords. No payment processing. No user database. If you email us for support, we will have that email, and we will use it to reply and nothing else.

Data requests and rights

Depending on where you live (GDPR in Europe, CCPA in California, and similar laws elsewhere), you have rights over personal data, including access and deletion. In practice, the personal data we could hold about you is limited to analytics records tied to cookies. You can prevent these by declining consent, and clear them by clearing cookies. For any request or question, contact us and we will do what the law requires and lean your way on anything ambiguous.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be noted plainly on this page. The current promises, chart data stays in your browser, analytics only with consent, no accounts, are structural to how the site is built, not policies we expect to reverse.
